Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about TellMeWhen

What is TellMeWhen?

TellMeWhen is an AI-powered web monitoring service that alerts you the moment anything on the internet changes. Instead of manually checking websites or signing up for dozens of different notification services, you can create custom alerts for any condition in plain English and get instant push notifications when your conditions are met.

How does TellMeWhen work?

It's simple: (1) Write what you want to monitor in plain English (e.g., "Tell me when the Switch 2 is back in stock"), (2) Choose how often to check (from every 15 minutes to once every 2 days depending on your plan), (3) Get instant push notifications when your conditions are met. Our AI handles the rest - understanding your intent, finding reliable sources, and validating when conditions are satisfied.

What's the difference between you and Google Alerts?

While Google Alerts monitors for keyword matches in news and web content, TellMeWhen uses AI to understand your intent and validate when specific conditions are actually met. For example, Google Alerts might send you every article mentioning "iPhone price," but TellMeWhen only alerts you when the iPhone price actually drops below your target. We actively search multiple sources, understand context, and verify conditions before notifying you - eliminating false positives and irrelevant results, showing you exactly where to find what you are looking for.

How accurate are the notifications?

TellMeWhen uses agentic AI backed by GPT models to understand your prompts and validate results across multiple authoritative sources. While we strive for high accuracy, results depend on publicly available information. We recommend verifying time-sensitive information (like prices or availability) before taking action.

How does the credit system work?

Each time TellMeWhen checks your prompt, it uses 1 credit (plus any add-on costs like Farsight, Deepscan, or Turbo). Here's how it works:

  • Free Plan: 25 welcome credits to try the service
  • Subscriptions: Monthly credits (200/600/1800) that expire after 30 days
  • Credit Packs: One-time purchases (100/300/800) that never expire

Credits are used in order: expiring credits first, then never-expiring credits.

Do credits expire?

Subscription credits (from Starter/Pro/Elite plans) expire 30 days after they're granted. However, credits from one-time credit packs (Bronze/Silver/Gold) never expire and can be used anytime.

What are Farsight, Deepscan, and Turbo?

These are TellMeWhen's core components that power every prompt evaluation. Each prompt includes a touch of Farsight and Deepscan by default, but the enhanced versions unlock their full potential:

Farsight+ (+1 credit/check): Broader search coverage with 2x more queries. Perfect for hard-to-find items, regional availability, and niche products.
Deepscan+ (+2 credits/check): Expanded analysis for complex conditions. Examines specifications, reviews, and secondary data points.
Turbo! (+3 credits/check): Priority processing queue for time-sensitive alerts like flash sales and limited drops.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes! You can cancel your subscription at any time from the app settings. Your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period, and you'll keep your remaining credits until they expire (30 days from grant date).

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

Absolutely! You can change your plan anytime from the app. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated cost for the month. Downgrades take effect at your next billing cycle.

What platforms are supported?

TellMeWhen is available on iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android devices. Your prompts and notifications sync seamlessly across all your devices where you're signed in.

Is my data private and secure?

Yes. Your prompts and personal data are encrypted and secure. We don't sell your information or track you across apps. Authentication is handled by Google and Apple Sign-In for maximum security. We only collect data necessary to provide the service.

How many prompts can I create?

The number of prompts you can create depends on your plan:

  • Free: 50 prompts maximum
  • Starter/Pro/Elite: Unlimited active prompts

Each prompt can be up to 200 characters.

What happens after my free credits run out?

When you run out of credits, your prompts will pause automatically. You can purchase a subscription plan or buy one-time credit packs to resume monitoring. Your prompts and notification history are saved, so you can pick up right where you left off.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, and all major credit cards through secure in-app purchases.
